Module 1 Formstorming

Weekly Activity Template

This is project by SiyuanChen. My design direction is to incorporate circuits into the interaction of daily items. My final designs are a watch with LED light effects when worn and a mouse with LED light effects when clicked.

Project 1

Module 1

This is my first week of Formstorming. During the first week, I mainly learned about how circuits are closed and the differences between series and parallel circuits. The following is the circuit experiment I conducted with LED lights, aiming to explore how to make the circuit connected.

I was testing under what circumstances the bulb would light up and whether it had anything to do with the placement of the copper foil. At what position would the copper foil touch the electrode with the bulb to light up the bulb? This is more tests I conducted for researching series and parallel circuits. Activity 2

This is the daily item I chose - a razor. These are the items I have discovered in my real life. I will carefully study their structures and then figure out whether these tools are interactive. This is the front view I drew. This is the side view I drew. This is me adding annotations to all the interactive parts of the items, to facilitate my thinking about how to add circuits in the subsequent projects. Final Project 1 Design

Wearable Interactive Affordance Based Circuit

This is an interactive circuit I designed that connects to a watch. When worn, the pressure between the watch and the battery causes the button battery to come into contact with the copper foil, lighting up the LED. When taken off, the light goes out.

Non-Wearable Interactive Affordance Based Circuit

In this mouse circuit design, to maintain the original interactivity of the mouse, the design method I adopted was to cut off the connection between the circuits of the left and right mouse buttons and the button battery below. Only when I press the mouse will the connection be established, and only then will the LED light up.
